Viv is an eco-friendly and accessible period care brand for menstruators, looking to educate and empower all womxn to live healthier lives. Featuring a collection of menstrual cups and bamboo pads — with tampons well on the way — viv ensures that both their products and packaging are made from sustainable materials and ingredients that are both good for the womxn who use them and the planet they rely on.

Why We Love Them

Due to the nature of their sustainability throughout their supply chain, when purchasing from viv you save 48 plastic bags from entering landfill, 634lbs of CO2, 607 gallons of water, and 9oz of plastic. Bamboo also uses 1/4 of the amount of water and less land to grow than cotton, with no need for harmful fertilizers, making it even better for our planet. Not to mention, bamboo is hypoallergenic and more comfortable than cotton. So it’s a more pleasant period experience for everyone.

Origin Story

Born out of a need and desire to use less plastic herself, Katie Diasti founded viv while she was still in school at Boston College studying Marketing and Managing Social Impact. Viv was actually a school project that she couldn’t shake, and once she saw how much impact her period products were making, she knew she had to continue to grow the company. Still located in Boston, Katie has brought on Izzy Sarrafzadeh and Catherine Mak to help empower womxn who bleed and respect our planet with every period product sold.

The Science & The Soul

The Science

Viv’s pads are plant based; they are made out of bamboo fiber, which is naturally anti-bacterial, and corn fiber, which is incredibly absorbent. While normal pads take over 800 years to fully break down and contain as much plastic as 4 plastic bags, viv’s pads’ sustainable ingredients ensure that it only takes 150 days after disposal for the pad to degrade and break down. Most menstrual pads also contain nasty chemicals like those found in weed killer, which are toxic for womxn to use. Viv’s reusable menstrual cup is also a zero-waste period option offered for those looking to rid the waste associated with your period entirely.

As a brand, viv looks to empower womxn by removing the stigmas and shame associated with periods through the products they create.
