TKEES Clothing Review: A Real World Test

If you’ve been looking for a way to combine classy and comfort into your everyday essentials, then it’s time to look no further than TKEES.

I had heard a lot about this company since Cindy Crawford was seen walking the stress of New York with her TKEES Flip Flops. So, I decided to try out a few of their products to see if they stood up to the hype.

The first product I tried was the Riley Vegan Matte Green Sandal in a size 8. At first glance, I loved this sandal because it was exceptionally visually appealing. The crossover design on the toe and the fact that the sole was the same color as the strap did it for me.

It didn’t hurt that the sandal was really lightweight and had great no-slip grip on the sole. Plus, it’s made out of entirely vegan materials, which is awesome!

Unfortunately, for me though, that’s where my love of the sandal ended. There wasn’t any arch support at all. So for someone like me who has a higher arch, this isn’t a type of shoe I can wear for a long period of time.

The toe strap, while visually appealing, actually hurt the top of my foot after walking around with the sandals on for a few minutes. And, the way the sandal is designed caused my foot to constantly slip off of the sole on the inside edge. Plus, compared to my other sandals, this size 8 was a bit small. It would have been great if they offered half sizes, but they don’t, so I should have ordered a 9 instead.

All of these caused me to only be able to wear them for a total of 20 minutes before I had to take them off in pain. It’s possible their other sandals won’t have these same issues, but this one was a no-go for me.

TKEES Hoodie + Relaxed Jogger

The next set of products I tried were The Hoodie combined with The Relaxed Jogger in Nutmeg. I ordered a size 3 in the hoodie and a size 4 in the jogger pants.

The neutral tones were extremely deep and warm, as well as the material of the set. They were both really soft to the touch and extremely cozy. I really appreciated the attention to detail with regard to the stitching on both garments. And the oversized hood was fantastic!

While I appreciated the idea of the drop crotch in the joggers, it actually caused a few issues for me, personally. Because of the drop crotch, my thighs rubbed together frequently. And anytime I sat down, I had to hike the pants up to get comfortable.

I think my biggest issue with both of these garments is that they both require line drying. As a person who doesn’t have the time or desire to line dry anything, this is a pretty big deterrent to me. And even when I did line dry them, they both came out horribly wrinkled, so I’d need to iron them in order to confidently leave the house.

When it comes to quality, this company leaves a lot to be desired in the transparency department. While the brand claims their traditional TKEES Flip Flops are made from Brazilian leather. While Brazilian leather is supposed to be one of the highest quality in the world, this still doesn’t tell us anything about their manufacturing facilities in Brazil.

TKEES doesn’t disclose much information as to where any of their products are manufactured. The only mention is on each individual product page. From that, we can discern that their shoes are made in Brazil and all clothing is made in Canada.

I love that none of their products are made in China, but I’d like to know more about the actual manufacturing facilities. As well as where they are sourcing the primary goods to manufacture their products from.

None of the sparse information TKEES reveals to the consumer gives them any indication as to whether their products are:

• Ethically Sourced
• Fair Trade
• Organic
• Cruelty Free

The brand also doesn’t give any indication as to their quality control methods, if any exist. This lack of information makes it difficult to determine the actual quality of the product. And the extremely lacking warranty on the clothing material makes me wonder how long the products will actually last.

Whether TKEES products are worth it will be a uniquely individual decision. This is due to a couple of primary factors, such as the higher price points and lack of information regarding quality.

However, we found the clothing line to be exceptionally comfortable and great as loungewear. So, if you’re someone who is looking for everyday loungewear that’s a bit more classy, and you don’t mind dropping a bit more money, then TKEES may be for you.

Plus, their footwear options have grown to have more diverse offerings which makes them a bit more desirable. And the price point for the footwear isn’t astronomical, compared to other higher end flip flops I’ve purchased in the past.

TKEES is similar to most other companies in that when you sign up for their mailing list you are likely to get some discounts. The initial discount they offer is free shipping just by becoming a member of their email list.

However, the brand does note that no matter how many discount codes you have, you may only use one at a time. And they also state that all sale items are excluded from any further discount.

Purchasing anything online can bring up questions with consumers. This is especially true of shoes and clothing items. Therefore, we wanted to answer as many of the typical questions as possible regarding TKEES specifically to help guide you to the best decision.
