Choosing a mattress can be a challenge, especially when shopping online. While today's most popular online mattress brands offer time-saving convenience, the lack of interaction with a physical product can make it difficult to evaluate important factors such as mattress quality, comfort, and overall feel.
We went through the mattress buying process ourselves, and challenged our team to choose between two top online mattress brands, Leesa Sleep and Nectar – using only the information we could find on the web. After comparing countless customer reviews, industry articles, mattress ratings, and of course the claims of the brands themselves, we're here to share our top mattress pick, and ready to put your most burning mattress-buying concerns to bed.
Find out why Leesa Sleep is The Fascination's top pick for the best online mattress brand of 2022, read the research and customer reviews that convinced us to give Nectar a no, and check out our thoughts on the Leesa mattress we bought.

Nectar Mattresses
Nectar offers a selection of three mattresses; The Nectar Mattress, The Nectar Premier Mattress, and The Nectar Premier Copper Mattress. Each of these mattresses are made using an all-foam construction, featuring stacked layers of memory foam that vary in density and height. Each mattress is available in all sizes, from twin to California king.
Mattress Materials & Construction
While memory foam is very comfortable, it is also very dense, which means it retains and traps heat – especially when compressed. Which means that mattresses built entirely out of memory foam, like Nectar, are bound to run warm, no matter how much they claim to sleep cool.
Leesa places their higher-density foam layers underneath a top layer of exclusive, custom designed, breathable foam, ensuring that their mattresses remain both supportive and cool throughout the night. For Leesa mattresses, the dense, foam base layer ensures comfortable, full-body support, regardless of how a person sleeps. The Leesa Hybrid and Legend add in a layer of individually wrapped coiled steel springs, giving additional edge support and bounce for those who need it.

"This is our 3rd Leesa original mattress being used regularly in our household. We loved the first one so much we’ve come back for 2 more for other beds. The first one we purchased is still going strong after nightly use for 6 years. We had always struggled to find a mattress that felt firm enough for one and soft enough for the other. Since finding the Leesa neither of us complains."

"I’m pretty sad to not love this mattress. I really had high expectations, especially for the price. I feel like this mattress is hot to sleep on despite it claiming to have cooling technology. It does not. I wake up sweating constantly which never happened on my old mattress. I’m a side sleeper and I sink into this mattress far more than I expected, which often causes my arms fall asleep. Overall I don’t feel like I made a great purchase."

Shipping & Delivery
Shipping
Both Leesa mattresses and Nectar mattresses are compressed, vacuum-sealed, and shipped in a compact box directly to your doorstep – a method originally pioneered by Leesa Sleep as one of the first direct-to-consumer, online mattress brands.
Both Leesa and Nectar offer free ground shipping anywhere in the U.S., but for Nectar, customers in Alaska and Hawaii need to pay additional delivery charges ($150 per large item ordered). Leesa's free ground shipping extends to customers in all 50 states. For additional fees, Leesa also delivers to international locations.
Fulfillment & Processing
Leesa mattresses are made to order, right here in the US, and ship within 3-5 business days, post-purchase. Nectar mattresses are not made to order, nor are they made in the US. Nectar cites shipping within 2-5 days after an order is placed.
White-Glove Delivery Options
Both mattress brands also offer a white-glove delivery option, which means they'll send someone to help you set up your new mattress and (if needed) remove the bed you're replacing along with any unwanted packaging.
For Leesa, white-glove delivery costs a $150 flat fee. Nectar's white glove service option costs $149 for your mattress – with an additional $45 per-item fee for any other applicable items required in the setup.

Mattress Sleep Trials & Returns
Because the majority of online mattress brands don't operate out of a physical location (though you can find and experience Leesa mattresses in select retail locations like West Elm), it can be difficult to accurately assess qualities like mattress firmness, support, and comfort without interacting with the mattress itself.
To bridge the gap between the in-person mattress buying experience at physical mattress stores and the hands-off process of purchasing a mattress online, most online mattress companies offer a sleep trial period. This gives customers some time to test their new mattresses and return them if they aren't satisfied.
Nectar offers a 365-night sleep trial – one of the longest sleep trials available across the entire mattress industry. This trial requires a 30-night break-in period, but after that, you can initiate a return at any point if the mattress isn't a good fit. For no extra charge, Nectar will arrange to pick up the mattress from your home and transport it for recycling or donation.
Leesa’s sleep trial is 100 nights in length with no mandatory break-in period, but Leesa does recommend testing your mattress for at least 30 nights to allow your body to adjust to the premium level of ergonomic support (especially if your previous mattress wasn't a supportive one). If you choose to return your mattress at any point within the first 100 days, Leesa will issue a full refund coordinate a free mattress pickup.

Customer Experiences
A major part of our mattress buying process involved taking a look at customer reviews and experiences. Here are a few of the highlights that helped us decide which mattress was worth the buy and which brand we'd trust to deliver the best night's sleep:
Leesa Mattress Reviews
★★★★★
"I have never slept on a more comfortable mattress. It’s true… the mattress literally hugs and supports your body. For me, it has significantly lessened sleep discomfort associated with hip pain from biking, as well as morning stiffness. So glad my daughter, who has one, recommended it. Will also say that the mattress arrived within days of ordering it and it was easy to unpack. I’m using it with a standard box spring, which has been fine."
MARIA
★★★★★
"I've had my Leesa cal king for about a year now. Every night when we crawl into bed we always mention how awesome it is. I can't even get used to it. Every night I'm like, how is it possible to be astonished every single time I go to bed? I was literally just talking to my wife about how excited I was to go to bed in that masterpiece, and as we were fawning over it I thought, hey... we should probably actually leave a review. My back pain I've had since my twenties is basically gone now. I wake up more refreshed. As I ease into bed at night the worries and pains of the day melt away on this blissful magic cloud they're trying to pass off as a bed. This needs a Nobel prize. In literature even. Just get them one. They've earned it."
JAKE
★★★★★
"We love our Leesa Legend! Feels firm but when you lay on it, it conforms to all the right places. We truly are sleeping better than ever. When we stay anywhere else we really realize how much we love our bed and can’t wait to get back to it! Customer service is also top notch. They make sure and take care of you if any need arises!"
CHELITA
★★★★★
"The Leesa Hybrid Mattress exceeds expectations... No more sore necks or low back pain for this side sleeper. I enjoy the overall feel and the bed sleeps cool. The strong edge support makes my full bed seem larger, I can sleep on the edge quite comfortably. Pleased side sleeper."

Nectar Mattress Reviews
★★★☆☆
"So comfy but too hot! Comfortable bed. We tried the Nectar Lush and it has just the right amount of softness to take the pressure off your shoulders and hips, without being too soft where you sink and it strains your body that way. Our only complaint is that it sleeps SO hot. We wake up feeling like we slept in an oven."
MARCIANA
★★★☆☆
"Edge support lacking.
This bed is very comfortable, EXTREMELY comfortable, but if you are sharing and get too close to the edges it’ll tip you right off. (No, we didn’t actually fall out of bed, but the “good night’s sleep” is undone by the jolts and tense muscles from catching yourself and repositioning.) We previously had a less comfortable mattress from another company that offered great support all the way around. We wish we could find the best of both worlds."
KERI-ANN
★★☆☆☆
"We have now had this mattress going on 2 years. The first few months it was very firm and it seemed to have a break in period. Now coming on 2 years the mattress is NOT very comfortable and regretting my purchase. We are both under 200lb and I am both a back and side sleeper. Cannot sleep on my back any longer as the mattress does not support the lumbar area very well. Side sleeping I feel my hip bone as if it is “hitting bottom” and causes pressure when side sleeping. Unfortunately not a good night sleep with this mattress."
CHASE
★★☆☆☆
"We opted for the luxury high end mattress and after sleeping on it for just over a month, I have to report... it's just ok.I have noticed it has started to get indents from the places we most often sleep, which is a bit annoying since it's a King and the whole point is to be able to sleep anywhere on the bed and sprawl out, not just default into a small indent in the mattress. Craftsmanship and quality of the construction seems great, the memory foam or whatever they use leaves something to be desired."

Our Top Mattress Pick: The Leesa Hybrid Mattress
Ultimately, after reviewing all of our research, we chose to purchase the Leesa Hybrid Mattress. The Leesa Hybrid Mattress is the perfect option for those looking to upgrade to a more premium, luxurious feel with better pressure relief and support that lasts. If you're looking for a better, balanced, comfortable sleep that won't cost you multiple thousands, the Leesa Hybrid is our #1 pick.
Here's a breakdown of how it's built. Take a closer look at the Leesa Hybrid Mattress:
