Hims’ Collagen Protein Powder is a soy-free supplement derived from 18 amino acids. It is also free of genetically modified organisms (GMOs), gluten, and artificial sweeteners. The powder is meant to be mixed into any liquid for a boost of nutrients at any time of the day. Currently, it’s only offered as an unflavored version, which is standard for a collagen powder.
The peptides in their powder are designed to support muscle recovery and joint health after working out, benefit skin elasticity, and more. It’s meant to be an easy, beneficial addition to your routine.

It lasts about a year which is a good shelf life, although at 30 servings a package it’s plenty of time to finish it.

How Do You Use Hims Collagen Protein Powder?
Using the collagen protein powder is quite simple. All you need to do is mix a scoop into a liquid and it should dissolve. Hot and warm liquids work best to both dissolve the substance and mask the flavor.
The instructions on the package don’t specify how often or when to take it, but the website suggests dropping it into your morning coffee or tea for a health boost first thing in the morning. It’s easy to add to your daily routine, as it doesn’t require extra materials or effort.

Hims’ collagen powder is purposely made of high-quality ingredients to give its consumers the best experience. While whey protein powder focuses more on bulking you up, collagen powder helps support the body’s structures that break down with age. Less collagen can result in fine lines and wrinkles and muscles that are sore for days on end.
Collagen supplements come in various forms including powders, pills, and even nutrition bars. Your body produces collagen naturally, but it decreases with age. Decreased collagen leads to fragile skin, wrinkles, weakened muscles, and joint pain from worn cartilage. Besides aging, lack of collagen is a result of a poor diet.
Hims’ Collagen Protein Powder is meant to dissolve easily into any liquid and be flavorless, making it an easy addition to your morning coffee, tea, or protein shake.
Unfortunately, the powder didn’t dissolve completely with cooler liquids such as cold water and sports drinks. Instead, the powder congealed and left behind a thick, sticky substance which led to a pungent, earthy flavor. The flavor wasn’t masked either, which made it difficult to drink.
The gamey flavor was masked when mixed with hot chocolate, dissolving completely. It fared well with other hot liquids like coffee, where it dissolved and the flavor was near non-existent. When mixed into a smoothie, the flavor nearly disappeared, making it a great choice. Overall the powder was a hit with hot or thick liquids but left clumps behind with cooler liquids.
The package doesn’t describe any side effects, but our testing showed that stomach cramps and gas were daily side effects for the first few hours after consumption. This was an unexpected occurrence, which led to an uncomfortable testing period.
There are several factors that led to this experience with the collagen powder, including:

Does the Collagen Protein Powder live up to its claims?
According to our experience and tests, the collagen protein powder didn’t completely live up to the hype. Like most collagen products, it had bold claims such as nail growth, better muscle recovery from exercise, and joint health. Collagen products are popular right now so it’s difficult for one to stand out in the crowd.
This collagen powder is a fairly new product, so there is room for development and improvement. With more time and research, Hims will likely make some tweaks with their current formula to help it dissolve into all liquids of all temperatures. Flavored collagen powders are also becoming popular, which can be another opportunity for advancement for Hims’ products.
