If you’re like me, you’re hesitant buying makeup products online because you’re not able to find the best shade for your skin. Il Makiage offers 50 shades of foundation, so there are a lot of options available which was a bit overwhelming.
Il Makiage’s shade matching quiz was much more detailed than any other online shade matching quiz I took. They ask many questions about your skin tone, undertones, the type of coverage you’re looking for, and more. The quiz takes about 5 minutes to complete and I felt really confident with my answers.
The other thing that made it a no brainer to try this foundation? Their “Try Before you Buy” program. Il Makiage sends you a full product, not a sample, for free. You just pay for shipping. You can test and try the product for 14 days. If you don’t like it, you can exchange it for a new shade or return it and you won’t be charged. Seemed like a win win, so I decided to place an order.

I felt like I was getting a lot of amazing products for a fraction of the cost and I had time to test and try that it worked for me in the comfort of my own home. I waited eagerly for my package to arrive from Il Makiage so I could try their famous foundation to see what the hype was about.
What Does Il Makiage’s Foundation Feel Like?
I prefer lightweight yet medium coverage foundation. I don’t want anything that is going to feel too heavy, cakey, or clog my pores (been there done that). I was intrigued with the reviews for Il Makiage’s Woke Up Like This Foundation that talk about how lightweight it is, yet the coverage is still strong. Il Makiage calls it a “streak-free foundation that smoothes and evens the skin with an advanced, innovative formula for a flawless, uniform natural matte finish” this is the exact first thing I decided to put to the test when I received it.
The Il Makiage’s quiz knocked it out of the park and matched me with the perfect foundation the first time I took it. From my quiz answers, they matched me with shade 010. When the bottle came, I was pleasantly surprised at how big it was and glad they sent me a full size bottle so I don’t have to place another order if it worked for me.
I couldn’t wait so I decided to put my foundation on right away to see if it matched. I pumped a bit on my hand and applied it with a foundation brush to my face. It matched perfectly and I was shocked. I decided to put it on my full face and immediately loved the smooth, lightweight texture. It didn’t feel like I was wearing anything but it looked like my skin had a filter on it. I deal with redness in my skin, and the foundation immediately covered that up without looking fake. I think I honestly said out loud “wow” when I looked in the mirror. While I didn’t plan on wearing a full face of makeup for my meetings that day, I decided to keep it and see how it performed. I honestly forgot that it was on my face because it felt so lightweight! When I couldn’t stop taking selfies because my skin looked so good, I knew I would not be returning the product.

I’ve been wearing Il Makiage’s foundation in shade 010 and the F*CK I’m Flawless Concealer in shade 2.5 for the last 4 months. It’s become my go-to foundation when I am looking for long lasting, medium coverage. I’ve worn this foundation with heavy makeup looks during weddings and my makeup has lasted all night long. I’ve also worn it for more simple, everyday looks and find it has the right amount of coverage. Over the past few months Il Makiage’s Foundation has been my go-to foundation, and I find myself reaching for it constantly.
Is Il Makiage’s Foundation Worth It?
From my experience, Il Makiage’s shade matching quiz matched me with my perfect shade the first time I tried it. I love the lightweight yet buildable foundation that provides the coverage I need without feeling too heavy or cakey. My skin feels breathable while the foundation smooths my skin. The bottle is also pretty big so it lasts a while.
