Are you on the hunt for a new, more modern floor lamp that won’t break the bank? If so, then you should give Brightech a look.

Price: $85

The Brightech Sphere Floor Lamp is a simplistic, yet sleek and modern floor lamp. This is a 65” H brass floor lamp with two large LED globes. The 9.5 watt LED bulbs are included. It is corded, lightweight (only 14 pounds), and comes with an on/off foot pedal switch. Plus, this lamp is smart home compatible for Alexa, Google, and Apple products.

Ratings Breakdown

QUALITY

The lamps are solid and have substantially heavy bases, which is important when purchasing a floor lamp.

VALUE

There isn’t anything exceptional that sets Brightech lamps apart from other lamps at big box stores. It’s a good lamp at an expected price.

CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

The Brightech floor lamps are easy to assemble, lightweight, and put out a decent amount of light. We like the style and find it illuminates the room well.

BRAND

This brand works harder than most other lighting companies to reduce their carbon footprint and also give back philanthropically. Though they lack a bit of transparency as a company that we normally like to see.

Who is Brightech?

Brightech was founded in 2012. The goal of Brightech is to create designer lighting options that are more affordable to everyone. The founder didn’t think the current lighting market was fair to the masses, so he came up with a way to create high-quality lighting solutions at lower costs.

How this is achieved is by using the exact same suppliers as their higher-cost competitors. But, instead of using middlemen, which inflate the prices, they sell directly to the consumer. This helps reduce the cost of their lamps to the consumer by up to 3 times. Which is huge!

While creating designer lighting options at lower price points is a great business model to begin with, Brightech wanted to take things a bit further. All of their lamps are either embedded with LED lights or use LED bulbs. Plus, they use recycled packaging and paper as often as possible to further assist with reducing their carbon footprint.

Brightech also partners with Watts of Love to help bring light to the impoverished around the world. They are a corporate contributor to this 501(c)3, which is fantastic! However, they don’t really give any other information other than that. So, it’s difficult to discern whether or not a portion of each purchase goes towards this partnership or if they just donate some money whenever they feel like it. A bit more clarification would be helpful.

Pros

  • Sleek designs
  • Easy to assemble
  • Puts out a nice amount of light
  • Free shipping
  • Easy returns process
  • Comes with a longer than average warranty

Cons

  • Nothing really exceptional about these products

Brightech Floor Lamp Look & Functionality

I had heard about Brightech floor lamps before but hadn’t gotten a chance to actually try out any of their products until recently. I was surprised by how many different floor lamp options I had to choose from. The only issue I can state about their options, though, is that the majority of their offerings fall into the brass family. So, if you’re looking for more diverse color options, your choices will be a bit limited here.

For me, that color family worked fine though. After a spin around their website, I landed on the Brightech Sphere Floor Lamp. I thought it would go well in my office space and add in a bit of needed extra lighting.

When the lamp first arrived it was in an Amazon box, which was confusing. I didn’t order this lamp off of Amazon, so my only guess is that they use Amazon as a drop shipper, possibly. Other than that oddity, the package was in great shape, and unboxing it was easy.

I didn’t really need directions to assemble this lamp because all I had to do was screw the base pieces together.

After that, I screwed the 2 light bulbs in and worked on getting the globes attached properly.

Then all I had to do was figure out where I wanted to put the lamp and plug it in

The floor on/off switch was an interesting feature. While I like this option, the addition of a switch or button on the body of the lamp would be helpful also depending upon the placement of the lamp.

Functionally, this lamp was perfectly fine. It didn’t do anything out of the ordinary to really set it apart from any other floor lamp I’ve had previously though.

Is Brightech Good Quality?

Brightech floor lamps are made to last longer than a lot of the bigger box store versions. The brand states this is to help reduce the amount of waste being produced and positively impact their global footprint. Which is an admirable cause, in my opinion. However, all of their products are made at factories overseas in China. This gives me pause more often than not.

However, Brightech claims that each factory they use is ISO certified and that they’ve personally visited each factory. They don’t specify any more than that though, so it’s difficult to determine which factories they use and which ISO certifications the factories have. It would be helpful to consumers to see more transparency from this company if they really want to have some legs underneath the marketing claims.

Even without the transparency, though, their products do appear to be better made than a lot of their competitors within the same price points. Plus, they have a longer warranty than the industry standard to back up their products. So that’s a bit more reassuring.

Are Brightech Lamps Worth It?

If you’re in the market for a higher-end floor lamp, but don’t want to spend your entire paycheck, then Brightech may be a great option for you. Since their lamps tend to be more moderately priced under the $100 mark, they are more accessible to a wider audience.

The fact that they are attempting to create more sustainable products doesn’t hurt either. We were able to find a lamp almost identical to the one we tested at Target for only $5 less.

But that was without the LED bulbs. So it would have actually cost more than the Brightech lamp for us to add the bulbs to the lamp. And if we add in the fact that the lamp from Target doesn’t appear to be created as substantially, we can presume it will not last as long. So, using that math logic, by purchasing the Brightech floor lamp we already saved ourselves some money right off the bat.

Brightech Coupons & Discounts

Brightech is one of the few companies I’ve run across recently that has their own dedicated coupon page. They used to have a coupon page on their website but has since been removed. They also have an email list that is beneficial to sign up for since they send out regular deals that way too.

Frequently Asked Questions

When it comes to purchasing a new lamp, there can potentially be a plethora of questions. Therefore, here we answer some of the most common questions consumers have about Brightech lamps.

How long do Brightech floor lamps take to ship?

Brightech does their best to get orders to consumers as fast as possible once you hit the “order” button. So, they generally get their lamps to you within 2-9 business days. This is for their free shipping option though. So, if you’d like your order faster, they do give the option to pay for expedited shipping.

They currently only ship within the 48 contiguous United States. But, they are working on expanding that in the near future.

Our order took 3 business days to get to us, including the day we ordered it. So, it was surprisingly fast compared to other online retailers we’ve experienced in the past.

Does Brightech have a return policy?

Yes, they do have a fairly generous return policy. They allow consumers to return any products, for any reason, within 30 days from purchase. All you have to do is go to the Brightech returns portal to begin the return process. Once you complete all of the required information they will send you a prepaid shipping label. This is so that you can ship your product back to them at no additional charge to you. Now that’s bright!

Once they receive it, they will inspect the product. They ask for 5 working days to complete this but state that the refunds usually occur faster than that. If the package is brand new and never opened, then they will refund your original payment method. If the package returns in “open box” condition, they will issue a store credit instead.

Does Brightech offer a warranty?

Yes, they are one of the companies that do actually offer a warranty on their products. If you purchase anything off of their site directly they offer a 5-year warranty. The only exceptions are:

Incandescent bulbs – 3-month warranty

Solar products – 2-year warranty

However, they also sell their products on partner sites, which include:

  • Amazon
  • Ebay
  • Houzz
  • Newegg
  • Walmart

If you purchase their products off of any of these platforms, they offer a 3-year warranty. But, they do give you an option to extend the warranty for the full 5 years by registering your product and order number. They offer this extended warranty for free, which is pretty sweet.

Does Brightech offer financing?

It seems there are more and more companies in recent years that are offering financing. Luckily, Brightech seems to have jumped on the bandwagon with this feature. While their products aren’t astronomically expensive in the land of lamps, this option may still be helpful to some consumers. Brightech has partnered with Affirm to offer their financing option.

If you want to consider this option upon checkout, all you have to do is choose the “Affirm” option upon checkout. This will begin the qualification process. Affirm will then run a soft credit check and determine whether you qualify for full financing without a deposit or not. The interest rates to use this service can range between 10% – 30% though and they only offer financing for 3 months. So, there might be some other better options out there to consider before taking this route.

Brightech Summary

Overall, Brightech does a good job creating designer lamp options at better price points. However, their offerings are still a bit more limited than I’d like to see. And they aren’t transparent enough about their brand claims.

But, the fact that they have a good returns policy and a much longer warranty than is standard, does help their product line stand up a bit taller. So, if you’re in the market for a designer lamp but don’t want to spend designer prices, then there’s really no harm in giving Brightech a try.
