The Partake Foods Origin Story
Denise Woodard’s daughter suffered from various food allergies, which made it difficult to find snacks and treats at the grocery store that were both tasty and safe for her to eat. Recognizing the lack of worry-free, tasty, options available, Woodard saw an opportunity to create more wholesome, great-tasting snacks that her daughter could enjoy, safely and stress-free. She started crafting her own collection of cookies, each made using real ingredients and specific, allergy-friendly nutritional profiles.
Soon after, Woodard started working with a food-scientist to bring her products to life, so that she could share them with others looking for healthier, tastier, safer snacks and treats. After a lot of work creating and refining crave-worthy recipes and vetting allergen-free, gluten-free, and vegan food facilities, Woodard had her first line of cookies ready to go, and Partake Foods introduced its first products to the public.
Since then, Partake Foods has launched 10 cookie flavors, a variety of snack packs, and a collection of baking mixes — all free of the Top 8 most-prevalent allergens (plus other common allergens like sulfites, mustard and sesame). In addition to finding them online, Partake Foods now sells in Whole Foods, Target, Kroger, and many other grocery stores nationwide. As Partake Foods continues to expand, Woodard mentors other Black and female founders in the food industry and has started the Black Futures in Food & Beverage Fellowship Program, designed for active HBCU students interested in exploring a career in CPG food & beverage.
