The Science & The Soul
The Science
There are a few important scientific principles behind Hydrant’s success. It includes a high and balanced electrolyte content that’s based on guidelines from the World Health Organization (in particular, a lot more potassium than regular sports drinks); rapid absorption through just enough cane sugar to activate the small intestine to push electrolytes and water into the bloodstream; and low osmolality. Nope – we had no idea what ‘low osmolality’ meant either, but we checked for you. It’s the number of particles per unit of liquid and it determines the ease and speed at which water absorption occurs.
The Soul
The Hydrant team are so passionate about everything hydration related they’ve even established their own mini-institute. Check out their website for research-based articles and advice, curated by Oxford scientists, on almost every imaginable issue relating to hydration – such as gardening, fitness, alcohol, sleep, wellness, and much more. We particularly recommend the recent article entitled “How can I boost my immune system?” which has a ton of practical steps to build into a daily routine.
