Gravity

Weighted blankets that use the power of gravity to improve sleep, stress levels, and snuggle sessions.

About Gravity

As we ride out the stress-nado that is 2021, finding peace and relaxation has become something of a pipe dream. At night in particular, daily stress can become daunting, leaving millions of people to toss and turn and others to lie awake with insomnia. Thankfully, Gravity is here to put our worries to bed. The brand’s weighted blankets, eye masks, and robes are scientifically proven to encourage the natural production of serotonin and melatonin — neurological hormones that reduce anxiety and deepen sleep.

Why We Love Them

Gravity’s blankets, robes, and masks leverage deep-touch pressure stimulation (DTP), which has long been known to induce a soothing physiological reaction. With stress and insomnia being culprits for ailments like heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes, Gravity is a game-changer, providing accessible, lasting relief — by taking the heavy lifting out of your hands and off your mind.

Origin Story

Weighted blankets have long been used to help those with severe anxiety, PTSD, autism, and other behavioral or mental disorders, but until John Fiorentino founded Gravity, no one had made them accessible to everyone or offered an option designed for regular, in-home use. Since its successful launch in 2017, Gravity has become a coveted resource, delivering welcome relief to those suffering from chronic anxiety, depression, and insomnia — while providing a simple, effective way for people to manage their mental health and reduce stress with a restful, comfortable, and sound night’s sleep.

The TL;DR

  • Very comfortable — and comforting weighted blankets in a variety of fabrics, colors, and sizes
  • These weighted blankets and sleep masks truly make it easier to fall (and stay) asleep
  • They help anxious minds rest and are a great way to destress
  • Dedicated to supporting mental health awareness and research through a partnership with the Brain & Behavior Foundation

The Science & The Soul

The Science

Gravity’s blankets are engineered to weigh about 10% of one’s total weight. The blanket then distributes that weight evenly across the entire body, activating pressure points and triggering the brain to release serotonin and melatonin. It’s these natural neurological hormones that help calm the body down to sleep. Which is why we like hugs — and also why everyone (yes, everyone) likes being the little spoon sometimes.

The Soul

Since its inception, the Gravity team has dedicated itself to helping those suffering from mental health and anxiety disorders. The brand continues to cultivate its dedicated partnership with the Brain & Behavior Foundation, to which they have donated more than $100,000 to date – in addition to providing many blankets to deserving nonprofits.

Gravity practices what it preaches internally, too; every team member has access to “recharge spaces” for 20 minutes, complete with weighted blankets, masks, and other helpful meditation tools to ensure balance and mindfulness during the workday.
